BIO
Heidi Holmström (she/her b.1997) works as a cloud writer, observer and composer, questioning topics such as social geography, attributes of place and aesthetics of behaviour.
Working in dialogue with the space; spatial recognition is essential to her practice. Circulating in situation-and site-specific installations and interventions, she questions the restrictions of the structure she put herself in. Having a compositional language, the practice allows elements from her background in music composition and improvisational approach to merge with a dynamic visual attitude.
From transmitting bird alarm calls through conference speakers into electricity pole structures, to building interventions into former U.S embassy surveillance rooms, the material non-hierarchy allows her work to take the form it needs.
Working internationally, her emerging practice takes up on locations throughout Europe (IS,PT,GER,CH,BE,NL,FIN,LVA,)
finding locations from artist-run spaces into off spaces and museums such as Museum West Den Haag (NL), a-milli-space (ISL), Bacio Collective (CH), Billytown (NL), Nap+ Amsterdam (NL), KASK (BE), Council+ (GER). She also has interest in curatorial practices and initiatives, and has been co-curating and organizing group exhibitions since 2023, like ‘meander’ at Billytown. and ‘Phattic Utterances’ in Antwerpen.
